Skullcandy is known for cheap\/mid tier, to decent quality headphones in the industry these days. From there cool and hip marketing background, to really fantastic sounding products, the Skullcandy brand has consolidated a firm spot in the affordable headset market. Skullcandy has convinced me that they know how to hit all market segments with affordability and credibility quite effortlessly, hence the review of the Skullcandy XTFree.
Design and Comfort - The Skullcandy XTFree adds credibility to this new notion that Skullcandy truly does make stellar headset products. From a design standpoint, I actually completely enjoy what Skullcandy has done here.
The perspiration resistant matte black rubber finish found across the totality of the device. Even in true Skullcandy fashion, the multi-colored ear tips which were once an eyesore are now a welcome addition to an otherwise bland market. The earbuds fit perfectly in my small ear and the ear wings provide a secure, but painful fit at times. Depending upon the placement they can hurt with time, so be wary of how you insert.
When done correctly, running, casual listening and weight lifting may all weights performed with relative ease due to how secure they feel in-ear.
They come with 3 different sized earbuds, but only a couple of ear fins for them all. The cord that connects both earpieces is tangle free and long enough to put utilized in frontal, or behind the neck use case. The volume up\/down and power controls are located closer to the left earbud where the micro USB charging port is located. The volume controls themselves are a bit stiff, but additionally, do not feel inexpensive which counteracts that. Overall the XTFrees get an A for effort and execution.

Performance: The bass which comes out from the Skullcandy XTFrees is probably the most impressive and noteworthy facet of the device.
During my workout routines, I found the bass to be accurate and a non-hindrance to the purity of the sound. You've to realize that a sub $100 pair of wireless of headphones that exude this quality of sound and bass in unison is unheard of. My only gripe with the XTFrees was the volume of the sound itself, however, this is more so a preference as opposed to a negative element of the headphones.
The noise cancellation makes music sounds encompassing and clear. Once I wasn't wearing another connected device the issues disappeared. This is not at all acceptable and was quite possibly the most frustrating aspect to the XTFrees in my use.
Battery: Battery life on SkullXTFrees is just enough to be good, but not great. Once you hear that warning you've about five minutes before the device completely shuts down.
